CHELSEA CONTACT PLAYER OVER CLUB-RECORD DEAL
Champions League finalists Chelsea have reportedly contacted the agent of Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku over a potential club-record transfer for the player this summer. It was reported that the Blues want to re-sign the Belgian international whom they sold to Everton for £28m many years ago after his successful loan spell with the Toffees.
Lukaku and Conte developed a close relationship at Inter Milan and the Belgian international penned a heartfelt message to his manager on Twitter when the news of his exit was officially revealed. According to the 28-year-old striker, he has developed a close bond with Conte since meeting him for the first time in 2014.
With Conte no longer at the club, Inter Milan are at the risk of losing Romelu Lukaku to Premier League teams with both Chelsea and Manchester City keen on the player. The Nerazzuri have already slapped an asking price of €120m (£102.9m) as reported by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport. Another report from Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) reported that Chelsea have already contacted Lukaku’s agent, Federico Pastorello, over a possible return to Stamford Bridge for the player this summer and that he won’t decide his future until after the summer. Romelu Lukaku has three years left on his current deal with the newly crowned Italian champions.
